Production of light olefins by catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass with HZSM-5 zeolite impregnated with 6Â wt.% lanthanum

► Selective production of olefins from lignocelluloses using 6 wt.% La/HZSM-5 catalyst. ► The highest olefins yield from sugarcane bagasse was 0.12 kg olefins/(kg biomass). ► Catalytic pyrolysis led to higher yields of olefins as comparing to pyrolysis. ► Biomass with a higher cellulose or hemicellulose produced more olefins than lignin.
