Biosorption of aquatic cadmium(II) by unmodified rice straw

► The mechanism of Cd sorption by rice straw is ion exchange together with chelation. ► Adsorbed rice straw becomes bio-ore with physical softness, easy Cd extractability. ► Initial rice straw has almost the same Cd sorption capacity as that of modified straw.
