Combination of enzymatic hydrolysis and ethanol organosolv pretreatments: Effect on lignin structures, delignification yields and cellulose-to-glucose conversion

► A 2-steps pretreatment process of miscanthus was investigated. ► The enzymatic pre-hydrolysis disrupted the lignocellulosic matrix. ► Lignin-holocellulose complex weakening enhanced the organosolv removal of lignin.
