Preparation of activated carbon from edible fungi residue by microwave assisted K2CO3 activation-Application in reactive black 5 adsorption from aqueous solution

► Activated carbon was prepared from edible fungi residues (EFRs). ► The EFR-AC was used for the adsorption of reactive black 5. ► The adsorption of reactive black 5 was well fitted to Langmuir isotherm.
