Influence of graphite flake addition to sediment on electrogenesis in a sediment-type fuel cell

► Lake bed sediment was used as biocatalyst in membrane less sediment fuel cell operation. ► Graphite fakes addition showed enhancement in the electron transfer efficiencies. ► 20% of graphite flakes addition showed maximum performance. ► Bio-electro kinetic properties of the biocatalyst were studied through Tafel analysis. ► Implementation of this approach in fuel cell systems has good economic viability.
