Potential of Phragmites australis for the removal of veterinary pharmaceuticals from aquatic media

► Evaluation of veterinary drugs removal from wastewater by Phragmites australis. ► Enrofloxacin (ENR), ceftiofur (CEF) and tetracycline (TET) were studied. ► P. australis revealed positive influence on ENR and TET removal. ► Main mechanisms were probably drug elimination by plant uptake and/or degradation. ► Potential of CWs for drugs removal from livestock and slaughterhouse wastewater.
