Application of a continuous twin screw-driven process for dilute acid pretreatment of rape straw

► Continuous pretreatment of biomass performed with extruder typed equipment. ► Showed the high sensitivity of interaction between acid concentrations and reaction temperatures. ► Higher enzymatic digestibility was obtained comparing with that of conventional batch process. ► More detailed technical refinements have to be explored were left for commercialization.
