Effects of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin on thermochemical conversion characteristics of the selected biomass

► Biomass composition did not have significant effect on weight loss profiles. ► Biomass composition had significant effect on CO, CO2 and CH4 evolution. ► Switchgrass and wheat straw yielded higher CO and CO2. ► Red cedar and wheat straw yielded the highest and lowest CH4, respectively. ► Carbon conversion efficiencies were higher for switchgrass and wheat straw.
