Naphthalene degradation by bacterial consortium (DV-AL) developed from Alang-Sosiya ship breaking yard, Gujarat, India

► Consortium DV-AL was able to degrade 1000 ppm of naphthalene completely within 24 h. ► Maximum growth rate was found to be 0.0389 h−1 at initial concentration of 3800 ppm. ► Maximum naphthalene degradation rate was found to be 80 mg h−1. ► Consortium DV-AL could degrade naphthalene in presence of other xenobiotic compounds.
