► Two stainless steel anaerobic digesters of 1000 l each with useful volume of 800 l. ► Organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) pre-treated using a pressure extrusiondevice. ► Average biogas specific production equal to 650 l kg−1 VS (400 l CH4 kg−1 VS). ► Max biogas specific production of 800 l kg−1 VS (510 l CH4 kg−1 VS) at 10% TS input. ► Average methane content in biogas equal to 64% v/v.
