Optimization and kinetic studies on algal oil extraction from marine macroalgae Ulva lactuca

► Ulva lactuca macro algae is a novel source which has been used as first time. ► Six pretreatment methods were used to achieve maximum extraction of oil yield. ► The extraction parameters were optimized and kinetic study was performed in detail. ► Under optimized conditions, 10.88% (g/g) of oil extraction yield was achieved. ► The activation energy (Ea) for oil extraction was calculated as 63.031 kJ/mol.
