Nitrification denitrification enhanced biological phosphorous removal (NDEBPR) occurs in a lab-scale alternating hypoxic/oxic membrane bioreactor

► NDEBPR occurred in a lab-scale alternating hypoxic/oxic membrane bioreactor (H/O MBR). ► NDEBPR was achieved in H/O MBR by enhancing DPAOs in the mixed microbial culture. ► The mixed microbial culture, characterized by low biomass concentration, was only 5% of MLVSS. ► Lowering the organic load from 1250 to 750 mg COD/l did not deteriorate the effluent quality.
