Enhanced coproduction of hydrogen and methane from cornstalks by a three-stage anaerobic fermentation process integrated with alkaline hydrolysis

► A two-stage thermophilic hydrogen fermentation process integrated with alkaline treatment was developed. ► The hydrogen fermentation effluents and alkaline hydrolyzate were used for methane production. ► An efficient coproduction process of hydrogen and methane was developed for achieving high energy recovery.
