Preparation and characterization of para-tertiary-butylphenol formaldehyde resins using dual catalytic-extraction method

- A new method called “dual catalytic-extraction” is proposed for preparing PTBP-FR.
- The softening point and number average molecular weight reach 120 °C and 1712.
- The PTBP-FR is thermal-reactive which contains methylol groups up to 16%.
- F/P molar ratio, temperature and time are important for preparing PTBP-FR.
- The PTBP-FR possesses excellent thermal stability and outstanding oil solubility.
