Quantitative characterization of plastic deformation of single diamond crystals: A high pressure high temperature (HPHT) experimental deformation study combined with electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD)

► We present a description of an HPHT experimental method to deform diamonds under mantle-like conditions. ► EBSD is then used to investigate the resultant deformation characteristics. ► The results are then compared to two naturally deformed diamonds. ► This study shows the potential of EBSD to the investigation of plastic deformation in diamond.
