Failure mode shifts during constant amplitude fatigue loading of GFRP/foam core sandwich beams

► Sandwich beams fail in different modes under constant amplitude fatigue loading. ► The beams fail by core shear fracture at high loads. ► The beams fail by face sheet fracture at low loads. ► Beams designed to fail by core shear fracture for static loads may thus fail by face sheet fracture in fatigue.
