Microstructure and mechanical property of Ruditapes philippinarum shell

The micro and macro mechanical characteristics as well as the structure of the manila clam (Ruditapes philippinarum) shell were investigated. The obtained experimental data provides a basis reference to further development relevant clams´ dredging and processing machinery, for the purpose of maintaining the clams´ integrity and survival throughout the dredging, processing, storage, distribution and transporting chain prior to sale.273
