Full-field optical deformation measurement in biomechanics: Digital speckle pattern interferometry and 3D digital image correlation applied to bird beaks

► We present two full field and easy to use validation techniques. ► Both techniques are compared to a finite element model of a multi-layered beak. ► Digital speckle pattern interferometry is very sensitive (nanometer resolution). ► Digital image correlation is more robust.
