Modularized peptides modified HBc virus-like particles for encapsulation and tumor-targeted delivery of doxorubicin

We constructed genetically modified HBc-based VLPs to hold excellent characteristics through incorporation of several modularized peptides. The recombinant RGD-HBc-NS5A VLP could specifically target tumor cells via the interaction with overexpressed integrin αvβ3 and deliver the therapeutic drug doxorubicin (DOX) with a defined delivery pattern. In tumor-bearing mice models, RGD-HBc-NS5A/DOX exhibited significantly inhibited tumor growth while also showing excellent biocompatibility and safety profiles.296
