Hippocampal PKA/CREB pathway is involved in the improvement of memory induced by spermidine in rats

► H-89 or arcaine prevented memory improvement induced by spermidine (SPD). ► SPD facilitated PKA and CREB phosphorylation 180 min, after administration. ► SPD increased translocation of the catalytic subunit of PKA into the nucleus. ► Arcaine and H-98 prevented PKA and CREB phosphorylation induced by SPD. ► Memory enhancement induced by SPD involves the PKA/CREB pathways in rats.
