1-Benzyl-4-methylpiperidinyl moiety in donepezil: The priority ticket across the blood-brain-barrier in rats

- We present a validated UHPLC-HRMS method used for pharmacokinetic analysis of donepezil and its three structural “fragments”.
- One of the fragments accumulates in the brain, while two of them do not.
- This fragment could be responsible for active transport of donepezil and related compounds across the blood-brain barrier.
