Ruthenium-based molecular compounds for oxygen evolution in acidic media

► Ruthenium-containing complexes are synthesized and characterized. ► Surface-modified electrodes are prepared and characterized. ► Membrane-electrode assemblies are prepared and characterized. ► It is shown that such complexes can be used for the OER in PEM water electrolyzers.
