Oxygen-releasing step of nickel ferrite based on Rietveld analysis for thermochemical two-step water-splitting

► Thermochemical reduction of NiFe2O4 is examined using Rietveld analysis technique. ► Amounts/chemical compositions of the materials formed by T-R step are identified. ► The Fe2+ fraction newly formed in the ferrite increased with T-R temperature.
