Synchrotron radiography and tomography of water transport in perforated gas diffusion media

► Micro porous layer cracks proved to transport liquid water. ► Laser perforation of micro porous layer enhanced water transport just slightly. ► Improved water transport is found for complete gas diffusion media perforations. ► Highest performance is achieved for perforations with 60 μm of diameter. ► Synchrotron tomography shows water filling behavior of different perforations.
