Novel composite solid state electrolytes on the base of BaCeO3 and CeO2 for intermediate temperature electrochemical devices

► Novel two-phase SDC-BCS composite materials were prepared by solution combustion synthesis. ► The effect of perovskite content and fuel type on the morphology was investigated. ► Co-presence of perovskite and fluorite phases is favorable due to: (a) thermodynamic stability against CO2 and (b) low electron contribution to the total conductivity.
