Dehydration kinetics of nano-YSZ ceramics monitored by in-situ infrared spectroscopy

► We studied the loss of H2O from nano- and monocrystalline YSZ exposed to liquid H2O. ► NIR spectra showed no evidence for structurally bonded OH groups in the samples. ► NIR combination band at 5200 cm− 1 (vibration modes of H2O molecules) observed. ► Loss kinetics of H2O from nano-YSZ slower than from s-YSZ.
