A new bifunctional Schiff base as a colorimetric and fluorescence sensor for Al3+ and CN−

Receptor 2 exhibited an excellent selectivity and sensitivity toward Al3+ by fluorescent intensity enhancement. In addition, receptor 2 also showed a good selectivity toward CN− by inducing a rapid color change from yellow to colorless.
