Novel titanocene derived from a partially alkylated s-indacene: Synthesis, characterization and comparative study with its zirconium analog

► We used 2,6-diethyl-4,8-dimethyl-5-hydroindacenide as ligand to obtain the corresponding titanocene. ► The titanium complex and its zirconium analog showed an enormous difference as catalysts in the polymerization of ethylene. ► The redox behavior of both complexes was studied with cyclic voltammetry. ► The electronic structure of both compounds was studied with DFT calculations.
