Hexachlororhenate(IV) salts of ruthenium(III) cations: X-ray structure and magnetic properties

► Two compounds based on Ru(III) and Re(IV) metal ions were prepared and characterized. ► Their magnetic behaviour is typical of spin-canted systems. ► Hysteresis loops are observed at 2.0 K. ► Our results stress the importance of considering mixed 4d-5d systems in magnetic studies.
