Sterically modulated silver(I) complexes of coumarin substituted benzimidazol-2-ylidenes: Synthesis, crystal structures and evaluation of their antimicrobial and antilung cancer potentials

Three series of benzimidazolium compounds with coumarin substituent have been synthesized. Bis-N-heterocyclic carbene (bis-NHC) silver complexes, [(NHC)2Ag]PF6, displayed increased antimicrobial and antilung cancer potentials over their mono-NHC silver counterparts, [(NHC)Ag-OAc], against four Gram +ve and Gram −ve bacterial strains and two human lung cancer cell lines.175
