A dinuclear Bi(III) complex of a 1,3-disubstituted imidazole-2-thione and its use as a transmetallation agent toward Pd(II)

The dinuclear adduct [Bi(thf)(diprimt)(μ-I)I2]2 (2) (diprimt = 1,3-diisopropylimidazole-2-thione) was fully characterized and shown to be a transmetallation agent toward Pd(OAc)2, affording the unsymmetrical dinuclear Pd(II) complex [PdI(diprimt)(μ-I)(μ-diprimt)PdI2] (3), which contains a bridging and a terminally-coordinated diprimt ligand.265
