The removal of stickies with modified starch and chitosan-Highly cationic and hydrophobic types compared with unmodified ones

► We investigate the interaction of starch with a sticky containing model suspension. ► Polyelectrolyte complexes between cationic starch and model suspension are formed. ► The surface activity in suspension is characterized using dynamic interface tension. ► We can obtain additional information on the sticky content of the wastewater.
