(1 → 2) and (1 → 6)-linked β-d-galactofuranan of microalga Myrmecia biatorellae, symbiotic partner of Lobaria linita

► Myrmecia biatorellae produces a (1 → 2) and (1 → 6)-linked rhamnogalactofuranan. ► The structure of this rhamnogalactofuranan is new among natural polysaccharides. ► In a preliminary study, it increased the lethality of mice with sepsis induced by CLP.
