Linear synthesis and conformational analysis of the pentasaccharide repeating unit of the cell wall O-antigen of Escherichia coli O13

- A pentasaccharide corresponding to the O-antigen of E. coli O13 has been synthesized.
- Thioglycoside derivatives were used as glycosyl donor in all glycosylation reactions.
- Benzylidene acetal, benzyl ether were removed by catalytic transfer hydrogenation.
- Conformational analysis was done by 2D ROESY and MD simulation techniques.
