Dissolution behaviour of silicon nitride coatings for joint replacements

Dissolution rates of SiN0.3, SiN0.8, and SiN1.1 coatings on CoCrMo compared to uncoated CoCrMo. Dissolution rates were obtained from i) electrochemical measurements of Icorr, ii) the step height between covered and solution-exposed surfaces, measured using VSI, and iii) the ion concentration in the solution, measured with ICP.
