Characteristics of electrospun PVDF/SiO2 composite nanofiber membranes as polymer electrolyte

► Composite nanofiber membranes were prepared by electrospinning. ► The presence of SiO2 improved the mechanical properties of the membranes. ► The crystallinity of PVDF reduced by the addition of SiO2. ► Nanofiber membranes exhibited a high electrolyte uptake. ► The incorporation of SiO2 improved the ionic conductivity of the membranes.
