Morphological and ultrastructural characterization of Carposina sasakii larvae (Lepidoptera: Carposinidae) infected by Beauveria bassiana (Ascomycota: Hypocreales: Clavicipitaceae)

► The ultrastructural characterization of the mature larvae of C. sasakii infected by B. bassiana were investigated by using light, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. ► Infection by B. bassiana on C. sasakii mainly by penetrating the integument. ► Infection by B. bassiana destroy the lamella structure of integument. ► Infection by B. bassiana induce defense response of C. sasakii. ► The infection of silk gland was observed by TEM.
