This study investigated the interpretation of annealing texture changes of severely deformed Al-Mg-Si alloys. For this purpose, the Al-Mg-Si alloy samples severely deformed by a differential speed rolling (DSR) process at a roll speed ratio of 1:4 for the lower and upper rolls, respectively, were annealed at temperatures ranging from 448 to 623 K for 1 hour. Grain orientation maps of the deformed sample revealed the high fraction of the grains with orientations belonging to rolling (Copper, S, and Brass) and shear textures (E, F, and H). At annealing temperatures above 498 K, Copper and S oriented grains were retained whilst Brass and shear texture components were diminished. This phenomenon was explained in the context of ReNuc recrystallization model wherein nucleation was assumed to occur between β-fiber components in conjunction with the orientation-dependent recovery.
