We have studied the structure and magnetic ordering of Tb1âxNdxMnO3 compounds by neutron power diffraction technology. Magnetic orderings originated from Mn- and Tb- sublattices are determined, and their interaction is investigated. Our results indicate that the Tb magnetic ordering is sensitive to either low magnetic field or chemical doping. A magnetic field larger than 2.2Â T could completely vanish the Tb magnetic ordering at 4Â K. The lattice parameter, Mn-O bond length, and Mn-O-Mn bond angle were found to be remarkably modified with Nd substitution. With an increase of Nd content, the Tb magnetic ordering is suppressed dramatically. This work may provide a better understanding of the origin of magnetoelectric ordering in multiferroics TbMnO3 in the full temperature range below TNMn.
