Partially irreversible metamagnetic behavior induced by magnetic field in La0.27Nd0.4Ca0.33MnO3

► A temperature and magnetic field dependent partially irreversible CO-FM phase transition was observed. ► Compared with the pure La0.67Ca0.33MnO3, the irreversible behavior is directly related to the doped Nd ions. ► The change of the lattice strain accompanying the metamagnetic transition was observed. ► A strong spin-lattice coupling was induced in the Nd doped manganites.
