Grain growth kinetics of bulk AZ31 magnesium alloy by hot pressing

► The first study to prepare bulk nanocrystalline AZ31 magnesium alloy by hot pressing. ► The grain growth behavior can be well interpreted by the kinetic equation, D5−D05=kt, where k = k0e(−Eg/RT). ► The activation energy Eg was figured out to be 110 kJ/mol, which is about 18 kJ/mol higher than as-cast pure magnesium.
