Fabrication and thermal aging behavior of skutterudites with silica-based composite protective coatings

► Silica-based composite coatings were fabricated on thermoelectric skutterudites. ► Nano-silica particles were modified by organosilane. ► The addition of glass or alumina particles made the coatings thicker and stronger. ► The sublimation of antimony was prohibited.
