Physical properties of polycrystalline Dy2PdGe6 and La2PdGe6

► We have measured and analysed the temperature dependences of magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, specific heat and thermoelectric power for isostructural Dy2PdGe6 and La2PdGe6. ► We have found and described the Schottky anomaly in specific heat of Dy2PdGe6 caused by CEF effect. ► The behaviour of the Dy2PdGe6 may be described by assuming the presence of a narrow gap in its magnon spectrum in the AFM state.
