A study of the interactive effects of hybrid current modes on the tribological properties of a PEO (plasma electrolytic oxidation) coated AM60B Mg-alloy

► PEO (plasma electrolytic oxidation) for production of oxide coatings on an AM60B. ► Two different hybrid (combination of unipolar and bipolar) current modes were used. ► Coating failure behavior of PEO coatings was studied. ► This is the first attempt to use the inclined impact-sliding wear to test PEO coatings. ► Microstructure, tribological properties and corrosion resistance were determined.
