Growth kinetics of titanium borides produced by CRTD-Bor method

► A new boriding method (CRTD-Bor) was applied to titanium in a systematic manner. ► All produced boride layers consisted of TiB2 on top and TiB whiskers underneath. ► A short processing time (30 min) was enough to grow uniform thick boride layers. ► The activation energy of TiB2 layer was determined as 189.9 kJ/mol. ► The study resulted in a diagram to be used in the prediction of TiB2 thickness.
