Study on the thermal erosion, wear and corrosion behaviors of TiAlN/oxynitriding duplex-treated AISI H13 alloy steel

► TiAlN multilayer was successfully coated on the oxynitriding treated H13 steel. ► The duplex surface treatment possesses the highest surface hardness (Hv0.01 = 3463 ± 1.5). ► Duplex TiAlN/oxynitriding treatment has the lowest wear volume (0.047 mm3). ► TiAlN-O-H13 specimen shows the optimal anti-erosion ability in liquid A390 aluminum alloy. ► TiAlN-O-H13 specimen shows the best corrosion resistance in NaCl and HCl solutions.
