Development of electro-co-deposited Ni-TiC nano-particle reinforced nanocomposite coatings

► Ni-TiC nanocomposite was electrodeposited from an organic free nickel electrolyte. ► Highest volume percentage of TiC particles is obtained at 70 mA/cm2. ► Ni matrix grain size is refined by the increase of the TiC particle incorporation. ► TiC particles were uniformly distributed in the Ni matrix at 70 mA/cm2. ► The maximum value of microhardness coating was 410 HV.
