The effect of antibacterial ingredients and coating microstructure on the antibacterial properties of plasma sprayed hydroxyapatite coatings

►AgNO3, chitosan and antibiotic were loaded into hydroxyapatite coatings. ►Two kinds of HA coatings with totally different microstructures were used. ►Materials and structure have important influence on the antibacterial properties. ►Results reveal the feasibility and potential clinical application of the technology.
