Synthesis of polylactide/clay composites using structurally different kaolinites and kaolinite nanotubes

► The mechanical parameters of PLA were improved by addition of kaolinite nanotubes. ► The nanocomposites are fully biodegradable in contrast to hydrocarbon polymers. ► The nanocomposites can be an attractive material for food packaging applications.
