Kinetics of the emulsion copolymerization of MMA/BA in the presence of sodium montmorillonite

► The stability and kinetics of MMA/BA emulsion polymerization with Na-MMT were studied. ► Stable latexes were obtained at 15 mM SLS (1% Na-MMT) and at 20 mM SLS (3% Na-MMT). ► Na-MMT (at 3%) has some catalytic effect in the polymerization rate. ► Molar mass decreases in the presence of Na-MMT.
